HYPER-LOCAL WEATHER UPDATES FOR HAR SYSTEMS

The Highway Advisory Radio with Road Weather Information System (HARWIS) from MH Corbin adds a new level of flexibility to Highway Advisory Radio Systems. Available as a complete system or as an upgrade to existing systems, the HARWIS can detect weather conditions using pavement, atmospheric, and visibility sensors.

HARWIS can provide the motorist with alerts for dangerous fog conditions, high winds, sleet, snow, slippery ice and heavy rain via HAR, VMS, flashing beacons, or text messaging. Data is collected from in-ground pavement analyzers and smart weather sensors by Lufft®. Data is reported using the MH Corbin Digital Communications Controller.

HOw It Works

Information is gathered from atmospheric and pavement sensors is combined with data from traffic analyzers to forecast hyper-local road weather conditions. HAR broadcasts are automatically interrupted when weather emergencies are detected and alternate routes can be recommended to motorists. HARWIS can provide messages even when the power is out. The HARWIS can be installed as a single unit or as a network of GPS synchronized systems that broadcast a single message simultaneously throughout an area.

SOFTWARE

Message recording, editing, review, scheduling and synchronizing are quick and easy through the intuitive graphical user interface that features map displays for each HAR system in your network. Manage and store a library of messages for quick release to the public, including the capability to execute commands for your entire HAR network in just a few simple steps.Platinum can manage other transportation communication devices such as flashing beacons and variable messages signs (VMS). The software also has the ability to monitor set parameters and alert an administrator or user through email. The software system consists of a central server that manages and stores all information about the devices, and a client software that allows a user to manipulate and control the central server.
